Emma Smith is Professor of Shakespeare Studies at Hertford College, University of Oxford.
She has lectured widely in academic and wider contexts, including at the Hay Festival, the Edinburgh Book Festival and the Globe Theatre, and worked with a number of theatre directors on Shakespeare productions.
Her research on Shakespeare focuses on the reception of his works on stage, in print, and in criticism. Her most recent book is Shakespeare’s First Folio: Four Centuries of an Iconic Book, which is out in paperback in spring 2018. She is working on an edition of Twelfth Night and on a book about how we came to love books.
