NON-CREDIT BEARING SHORT COURSE
This course is for student/staff/members of the public who wish to learn more about Chinese calligraphy. As part of the calligraphy course, students will learn about Chinese character structures and their distinctive patterns. There will be lots of opportunities to practise writing characters and painting with traditional ink and brushes.
The course will last for 10 weeks, altogether 17.5 hours. Students will start with the strokes of Chinese characters and learn about the background of this ancient art. This covers the basics, from how to hold the brush correctly and character proportions, to writing in different styles. The class will also cover Chinese culture which along with the basic structure of Chinese characters enhances the students learning. The aim is to provide a positive learning experience whilst developing both knowledge and skills.
