Culture Cafe - ‘Hull: Culture, History, Place’
Speaker: Professor David Atkinson, Professor of Cultural and Historical Geography, Associate Dean for Research, Faculty of Science and Engineering. Chair of the Society for Libyan Studies, a British Academy British International Research Institute.
This session outlines the rhythms and geographies of the Hull Blitz between 1940 and 1945. It draws upon images and documents from the Hull history centre, plus an outline of how aerial warfare was developed and theorised in the interwar period. These new materials augment the broader lecture on a connected theme that I presented in 2016.
