Ethel Leginska, was the Hull-born pianist who paved the way for women all over the world to find a place on the professional conducting podium. Our exhibition seeks to recognise this now forgotten trailblazer by celebrating her rightful place in British history and demonstrating her significance for the future.
The exhibition relaunch will take place at the International Conference on Musical Cultures (3-5 April) and the exhibits will continue to be available for the public to view for free until the end of July. No booking is required.
Produced in association with the Sinfonia UK Collective Leginska Archive, the exhibition was originally shown alongside associated concerts that took place at Ferens Art Gallery 10-12 March, as part of the Women of the World Festival Hull supported by Hull UK City of Culture 2017.
