Athena SWAN is an ECU award that recognises gender equality and female advancement in higher education. The University is a proud recipient of the Athena SWAN Bronze Award. Previously the Charter was available to STEMM only, however the Charter has been expanded to recognise work undertaken in arts, humanities, social sciences, business and law and in professional and support roles.
In support of those Faculties/Schools preparing or thinking about submitting an application for an award the University has arranged for a representative from the ECU to visit campus to present an Athena SWAN ‘Master Class’. All staff who are directly or indirectly involved in Athena SWAN activity are encouraged to attend this one-off ‘Master Class’ as it will provide an excellent opportunity to understand how to prepare for an award and to receive advice and guidance on best practice directly from the ECU.
