Joseph Conrad’s Heart of Darkness (1899), hosted by Dr Karen Turner
Bringing Literary Landscapes to a close is the classic novella Heart of Darkness (1902) hosted by Dr Karen Turner. Much like The Wind in the Willows and Three Men in a Boat the novel focuses on a journey by river, but tells a much darker story. The novel is considered one of the best novels of the twentieth century, famous for its exploration of imperial themes and as the source material for Francis Ford Coppola’s Apocalypse Now.
