In this presentation Dr Brauer addresses the issue of how the drive for research excellence creates unintended consequences that jeopardise the quality of higher education and respect for academic institutions within society.
Rene Brauer is a research impact officer at the University of Hull, UK and an independent researcher for the Bacchus Institute of Science. Both his bachelor’s and master’s degree are in human geography, awarded from the University of Gothenburg. His PhD was awarded from the University of Surrey, UK. His research interests lie within the epistemology, ontology, axiology, methodology, psychology, sociology and assessment of research and impact.
