Creativity lives and breathes at the University of Hull – always has done, always will.
We’ve been pushing creativity for nearly a century, pioneering new ideas and inventions – and inspiring minds to go beyond their limits. As a catalyst for creativity we are a keen supporter of arts and culture within our community and beyond. Now, as a principal partner of Hull UK City of Culture 2017 we are delighted to be an integral part of the celebrations.
We will play a significant role in producing and hosting some of the spectacular events that form part of the Hull 2017 programme. And, as the exclusive academic partner we are an official partner in creativity and in helping to pave the way for future generations.
Studying and living in Hull in 2017 will be a once-in-a-lifetime experience providing students with unrivalled CV-boosting opportunities to volunteer behind the scenes.
Making and hosting world-class events
During 2017, the University of Hull will be central to the City of Culture celebrations, producing and hosting a spectacular programme of satellite events ensuring that our campus is the place to be. We’re also making a multi-million pound investment in theatre and cinema space, cutting-edge recording studios and TV editing suite gearing up to provide an outstanding venue for students and the public an expansive remodelling of Middleton Hall.
Our events will raise aspirations and enrich the lives of our students and the people of this unique city.
The power of culture
As the exclusive academic research partner for Hull 2017, we’ll explore and debate the transformative power of culture. Our Institute for Research on Culture and the Creative Industries will explore the social and economic impact of culture and the 2017 events creating a lasting legacy which will help make Hull a blueprint for cities considering cultural investment.
Join us in telling the world what we’ve always known – that Hull is a cultural destination for must-see events.
